Lake Huntington News

By Eileen Hennessy

It’s getting a little nippy out there, but the fall weather is so nice to be out and about. I stayed home this weekend to get ready for the holidays. My brother Teddy told me I was having Thanksgiving, so I had to get my house in order; little did he know he would be doing most of the work. I think I was a little rude to my family. I am a very picky eater, so I will make what I like, and I told them if they want anything else they have to bring it. I eat turkey, mashed potatoes, my mom’s sausage stuffing, string bean casserole and gravy.

My sister will do the veggies, because her daughter is a vegan; my brother is doing a ham and my cousin is bringing dessert. When it comes to the part of saying what you are thankful for, I know I will start to cry—I have so much to be thankful for. I am truly blessed with a great family (we all get along) and friends and co-workers.

The first person who asks me if I am putting up a tree is going to have to do it, and come back to take it down. I get so busy the day after Christmas with taxes. I haven’t put up a tree since my mom and Tommy passed.

The Marine Corps League would like to thank everyone who came to the Marine Ball at the Villa Roma for their 241st birthday. If you are interested in being a member, all branches of the military are welcome. Please call Bob DeMan at 845/252-7208.

Matson’s Bar & Grille, formerly The Ruff Cut, will be open on Saturday, November, 19. They’ll have wings, burgers, panini, roast beef, pastrami, corned beef... I cannot wait! Yummy.

The Lake Huntington Fire Co. is selling tickets for its New Year’s Day chicken barbeque. Ask any of the firefighters, or call RuthAnn at 845/932-8514. It is takeout only, $10 each from 3 p.m. until sold out.
If your group or club has anything going on please let me know so I can get the news out to the community.

Keep smiling and have a great week. Email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
