County employee arrested for theft

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a county employee after a routine audit by the County Treasurers Office turned up missing funds. Janice Robertson, 60, of Narrowsburg was charged with Grand Larceny and Falsifying Business Records, both felonies.

A complaint filed in the Village of Monticello Court alleges that Robertson stole approximately $4,500 in cash and then falsified tax payment records to conceal the theft. Robertson was released on $5,000 bail to appear in Monticello Court on June 9th.

Torah Center receives tax exemption; Former home of Daytop Village

WHITE LAKE, NY — An organization called YGS Torah Center, which now owns the facility on Route 55 in Swan Lake that was the former home of the drug treatment center Daytop Village, was the subject of a resolution at the Bethel town meeting on May 25.  Read more

Approvals for Bloomingburg development may be rescinded

The Mamakating planning board, which at least for now still has jurisdiction over Bloomingburg planning decisions, unanimously adopted a resolution on May 24 calling for developer Shalom Lamm to explain why the approvals granted for his controversial development Villages at Chestnut Ridge should not be rescinded. The resolution explains that the planning board will consider rescinding the approvals.  Read more

Exhibit opening: 'Brides in Art'
