Port Jervis teacher arrested for student relationship

The New York State Police in Middletown report the arrest of Ashley Kaufmann, age 30, an art teacher at Port Jervis High School, following a complaint that Kaufmann had a relationship with a 16 year-old male student at the high school.

Kaufmann was charged with forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. The forcible touching charge stems from physical contact, and the student being incapable of consenting to the physical contact due to his age.  Read more

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office has arrested two suspects from Loch Sheldrake in connection with a burglary at the Monticello Farmer's Market.

Deputies were called to the store on East Broadway on Friday morning, July 24, 2015, when employees discovered the break in. Entry had apparently been gained through an outside milk cooler which leads into the store. Employees discovered that over $6,000 in cash and coins had been stolen.  Read more

Blue Moon Festival

July 31, 2015

Village-wide event in Jeffersonville. Kick off at 6pm in the Backyard Park, 876 Swiss Hill Road North, with a bonfire and drum circle followed by a Howl at the Moon Contest. Music on the Main Street Events Stage located directly across from the Jeffersonville Post Office begins at 8pm. Blue Moon Specials at Mullally’s Bar and other area business.
